The well-known bookmaking firm, Betfred, has generously contributed £30,000 (roughly $38,000) to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Throughout the recent World Darts Championship and Women’s World Darts Championship, Betfred promised to give £50 for each perfect 180 score thrown and £1 for every point earned. Adding to this remarkable endeavor, competitors and famous individuals took part in a charitable darts competition, gathering an extra £9,793.
The men’s competition saw an astounding 315 maximum scores, while the women’s event produced an impressive nine. Notably, Nathan Aspinall, the ultimate men’s victor, contributed a significant 44 of those 180s.
Betfred’s dedication to philanthropic efforts is truly praiseworthy. Since becoming the primary sponsor of the World Darts Championship in 2019, they have regularly aided organizations such as Parkinson’s UK and the Stroke Association. This year marks their second successive contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Backing these tournaments is always a peak moment of the year for us at Betfred, but it’s especially fulfilling to be able to assist such a deserving organization as Macmillan Cancer Support,” stated Fred Done, Head of Betfred.
“The players were exemplary in both the quality and excitement of the darts, but also in supporting our charitable endeavors at the World Darts Championship and the Women’s World Darts Championship. The funds raised for Macmillan Cancer Support will be incredibly helpful to such a vital charity.”
Its fantastic that Budweiser could contribute and give such a large amount to the Macmillan Cancer Support this year,” stated the current global darts champion, Gerwyn Price. “The work they do is so vital, and I feel honored to have participated in generating funds for such a deserving charity.”
