A prominent Brazilian football player, Gabigol, was discovered during a law enforcement operation targeting an illicit gaming venue in Sao Paulo. He was among approximately 200 individuals present at the covert establishment in the early hours of Sunday.

The forward, who represents the Brazilian team Flamengo, was escorted to a police precinct and formally processed, alongside the other attendees. They were subsequently released after consenting to appear before authorities at a later time.

Law enforcement officials indicated that they had initially received information regarding an unauthorized gathering, in violation of COVID-19 regulations. Upon their arrival, they uncovered the unlawful gambling activity.

Gabigol was absent from his team’s match on Sunday evening, in which Flamengo suffered a 1-0 defeat against Fluminense.
