The Illinois Lottery, managed by Camelot Illinois, has launched a new “Scan-n-Play” option to improve the player experience. This new technology allows users to scan their physical instant-win tickets with the Illinois Lottery mobile application, animating the game on their devices and immediately displaying any prizes.
Although many US lotteries provide instant win options akin to scratch-off tickets, Camelot emphasizes that Illinois is the first state to “digitize the reveal experience – for both iLottery and retail participants.”
Tina Wolf, Camelot Illinois’ Vice President of Products and Partnerships, highlighted the shift from traditional paper tickets to interactive digital encounters, stating that this strategy attracts new players while fostering responsible lottery growth.
Fast Play games were first introduced by the Illinois Lottery in September 2020, but were initially confined to physical retailers. It took over a year for Fast Play games to become accessible online via the Illinois Lottery website and app. There are currently ten Fast Play games available both at retail outlets and online.
Wolf added that the expansion of the Fast Play game selection is driven by a straightforward objective: to engage current players and entice new ones.
The Land of Lincoln experienced a significant upswing in digital lottery engagement following the implementation of “Fast Play” options. New participant sign-ups increased by 40%, and sales occurring each week escalated more than fivefold over a short five-month span.
