The exclusive owner of New Zealand’s gaming permit, Tab NZ, has formed a long-term strategic alliance with Entain.
This arrangement, pending government authorization, will see Entain aiding Tab NZ in delivering wagering and broadcasting services to New Zealand for the next quarter-century.
Tab NZ indicated that the collaboration was spurred by escalating competition, rising expenses, funding constraints, and other obstacles that have hampered their capacity to adequately finance horse racing and sporting events.
Foreseeing these difficulties to intensify, Tab NZ disclosed that they have been engaging with numerous operators over the past half-year regarding strategic partnerships, receiving various proposals, including the successful one from Entain.
Although the specific details of the agreement will remain private until approval, it has been confirmed that Entain was chosen based on a broad spectrum of criteria, encompassing operational proficiency, cultural compatibility with Tab NZ, and the partner’s dedication to enhancing their harm minimization and responsible gambling endeavors.

Tab NZ has declared that it will substantially fortify its financial standing by enabling advance payments for horse racing and sporting events, in addition to future payments exceeding Tab NZ’s present funding reduction path over an extended period. This agreement could yield approximately NZ$5 billion over a quarter of a century.
The accord will permit investment and enhancement in Tab NZ’s harm mitigation and accountable gambling endeavors, and provide advance payments to deter unauthorized offshore operators from offering wagering services within New Zealand.
