The Tennessee Education Lottery (TEL) crossed the $2 billion mark in total earnings for the financial year ending June 15, 2021. This is the first time the lottery has achieved this significant milestone.
The financial year started with the lottery’s most successful first quarter ever. The operator transferred $114 million to the education lottery account after revenue reached $498.2 million from July 1 to September 30. This represents a 16.8% increase compared to the previous year.
The lottery continued to set new records throughout the financial year. This includes record-breaking second-quarter sales of $399.5 million for instant games, a growth of more than 17% and 20% for its “Cash 3” and “Cash 4” draw games, and record-breaking weekly instant game sales of $47.1 million for the week ending April 10.
“This year has been exceptional in many ways, but our goal has remained consistent: to generate funds for the designated education programs we support,” stated Rebecca Paul Hargrove, president and CEO of the lottery.
